Cancel a service
Published on 3 October 2026
Want to stop using a server or another service? You can cancel monthly, in My CakeHosting. You decide whether your service stops at the end of the period you’ve already paid for, or right away. This article explains how it works and what happens to your files afterwards.
Before you cancel: save your files
Once your service ends, we delete the data on it. If you want to keep your world or your files, download them first:
- make a backup in the game panel and choose Download next to it;
- or fetch your files over SFTP. You’ll find the login details in the game panel under Settings.
How to cancel
- Log in to My CakeHosting and go to Services.
- Open the service you want to cancel.
- Click Cancel.
- Under Cancellation Type, choose Cancel at the end of the billing period or Cancel immediate.
- Under Reason for cancellation, briefly tell us why you’re leaving. The field is required, and it helps us improve.
- Click Cancel and confirm.
Your service will then show that the cancellation is pending.
End of the period or right away?
- At the end of the billing period is usually the best choice. Your service keeps working until the end of the period you’ve already paid for. After that it stops and isn’t renewed.
- Immediately stops your service straight away, and you can’t use it any more. Only do this once you’ve saved your files.
We don’t refund a period that has already started, except where our Terms of Service or the law say otherwise.
Cooling-off period for consumers
If you’re a consumer, you have a 14-day cooling-off period after entering into the agreement. You can withdraw through a support ticket or by email. If you asked us to start your service straight away, you only pay for the part that has already been delivered. The exact rules are in article 5 of our Terms of Service.
Questions about an invoice?
Unsure about an invoice that’s still open after you cancelled, or did you cancel by mistake? Open a support ticket in My CakeHosting as soon as possible and we’ll sort it out.
