7 Days to Die is the zombie survival game by The Fun Pimps, with crafting, building and, by default, a blood moon with a big horde every seven days. Version 1.0 came out in July 2024, and version 2.0 added crossplay between PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2025.
Crossplay or mods?
Many mods, especially ones with their own code, only work with EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat) off. For a PC server with mods, that is no problem. Crossplay with PlayStation 5 and Xbox needs the opposite: ServerAllowCrossplay and EAC on in serverconfig.xml, no more than 8 players, a world of at most 8192 and no mods. On top of that, consoles use a few ports right after the game port, and those are not part of your server by default. If you want crossplay, open a ticket first and we will see whether we can set up those ports for you.
How much RAM do you need?
We start 7 Days to Die at 8 GB: enough for a group on a standard world. The blood moon is the heaviest moment, with lots of zombies at once. If you play on a large world you generated yourself, or with mods, choose SuperCake 12 GB or MegaCake 16 GB.
What can you change in the panel?
In the Startup tab you choose the difficulty, automatic updates and, if you like, a beta branch. Most settings live in serverconfig.xml: the server name, a password, the world size, the day length, the blood moon and crossplay. With the Telnet password you manage the server remotely. Restart the server after a change. Before a big game update, make a backup, so you can always go back to your old world. How that works is in Create and restore a backup.
