The Hytale server is a Java program and likes fast cores. For a small group, Standard is a fine start; for a public server or lots of plugins, Premium is the better pick.

A Hytale server is for groups of friends who want to build one world together, and for creators who want to work with plugins and their own rules. If you know Minecraft servers, this will feel familiar: one world that keeps running when you are offline, and you decide who joins.
Playing alone, or now and then with one friend while you are online yourself? Then you don’t need your own server.
Just ordered? First steps after your order shows you how to get into the game panel. To change the settings in the Startup tab, see Change your server settings under Startup.
Choose Standard or Premium above. After you pay, our system creates the Hytale server automatically.
Start the server in the game panel and type /auth login device in the console. Open the link that appears, enter the code and log in with your Hytale account.
Then type /auth persistence Encrypted. The server remembers the link, so you don’t have to repeat this after every restart.
Share the server address with the port from the game panel. In the Startup tab you choose, among other things, whether operators are allowed.
Hytale is the sandbox adventure game by Hypixel Studios. You build, explore dungeons and fight creatures together, and since early access began on 13 January 2026 you can run your own dedicated servers for it. For years the old CakeHosting site had a Hytale page that said the game was not out yet. That page can finally retire.
The official Hytale Server Manual asks for at least 4 GB of memory and Java 25, which is why our smallest plan starts at 4 GB. View distance matters most: the further players can see and the more they explore apart from each other, the more the server has to keep in memory. Hypixel recommends a maximum view distance of 12 chunks. With a few friends, CupCake 4 GB is a fine start. If you spread out to explore or add plugins, pick Cake 6 GB or BIGCake 8 GB. For a public server with lots of players, SuperCake 12 GB gives you room to grow.
In the Startup tab you choose the patchline (release or pre-release) and whether operators are allowed. Mods and plugins go into the mods folder as .zip or .jar files, for example from CurseForge. Your whitelist and permissions live in whitelist.json and permissions.json, and the other settings in config.json. Edit those files while the server is stopped, because the server writes to them while it runs.
Once you have paid, the server is ready. Start it, link your Hytale account with the code from the console and share the address with the port. Then make a first backup straight away: early access means frequent updates, and a backup is your safety net. Still weighing self-hosting against renting? Read Hytale server: host it yourself or rent one?
Your own Minecraft Java server for your friends or your community, with Paper and plugins. Pick Standard for a friendly price or Premium for AMD Ryzen 9 7950X and 9950X processors.
Dig, build and beat bosses in 2D. With tModLoader for mods.
Viking survival for up to 10 players, with crossplay to consoles if you like.

Hytale has been playable in early access since 13 January 2026, through the Hypixel Studios launcher. Chapter I, the first big update with a new dungeon and a boss, is announced for 12 October 2026. Your server updates itself when it restarts; make a backup before this big update.
Both are about building and exploring in a world of blocks. Hytale puts more weight on adventure, with dungeons, creatures and bosses, and comes from Hypixel Studios, founded by the people behind the Minecraft server Hypixel. For your server it feels like Minecraft Java: the server is a Java program and mods and plugins go into the mods folder.
Yes. You link the server to your Hytale account once with /auth login device in the console. With /auth persistence Encrypted the link survives a restart.
At least 4 GB, according to the official Hytale Server Manual. View distance has the biggest effect. For a group that explores far apart or uses plugins we recommend 6 or 8 GB, and 12 GB for a public server.
Yes. Put them in the mods folder of your server as .zip or .jar files, for example from CurseForge, and restart. In early access a mod can break for a while after a Hytale update, so make a backup first.
Your server checks for a new version on every start and downloads it. Client and server need the same version, so after an update a restart is usually all it takes. In the Startup tab you can also choose the pre-release patchline.
Usually the server is not linked to your Hytale account yet. Type /auth login device in the console, follow the steps and then type /auth persistence Encrypted. If it stops starting after an update, take your mods out of the mods folder for a moment: a mod is sometimes not updated yet. Stuck? Get in touch with us.
With the address and port from the game panel. A domain name without a port does not work in Hytale yet, so always share the address with the port.
Yes. Premium comes with DDoS protection through Cloudflare Magic Transit. On Standard, your server has standard DDoS protection from the data centre. For a public server we recommend Premium.
