Mumble server hosting

At CakeHosting you rent a Mumble server by the number of slots: how many people can be connected at the same time. Mumble is free, open source voice software with low latency, ideal for your clan or group of friends next to your game server.

Prices to be confirmed. The Mumble plans are ready, but the prices are not final yet. The amount you see at checkout is what you pay.

Count how many people sit in your channels at once on a busy night and add a little headroom. Need more slots later? Order the bigger plan and move your channels over; voice plans do not upgrade automatically.

How to set up your Mumble server

  1. Step 1: Pick your plan

After payment, the server is ready in the game panel.

  2. Step 2: Start it and take note

On the first start, the server prints the SuperUser password in the console. Keep it safe.

  3. Step 3: Set it up

Welcome text and password go in murmur.ini, through the file manager.

  4. Step 4: Connect

Enter the address and port from the game panel in the Mumble app and create your channels.

Frequently asked questions

What is a slot?

A place for one person connected at the same time. With 25 slots, 25 people can sit in your channels at once. The slots do not limit the number of accounts or channels.

Which apps work with Mumble?

The free Mumble app for Windows, macOS and Linux, available at mumble.info. For Android, there are third-party apps such as Mumla.

How do I become admin of my server?

Log in as SuperUser with the password from the console of the first start. Then create channels and give yourself or others admin rights.

Is the conversation encrypted?

Yes. Traffic between the Mumble app and your server is encrypted, for both voice and chat.

Can I rent a TeamSpeak server as well?

Not yet. Renting out TeamSpeak servers requires a licence from TeamSpeak, and we are sorting that out first. Until then, Mumble is a free and open alternative.
