Cookie policy
In short: we use cookies and local storage that are needed to make the website, My CakeHosting and the game panel work, or to remember a choice you make yourself. Only if you give consent do we also measure with Google Analytics. No advertising cookies and nothing that follows you across other websites. This is a translation; if the English and Dutch versions differ, the Dutch version prevails.

What are cookies and local storage?
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. Local storage is similar, but it stays in your browser and is not sent to the server. The same rules apply to both, so we list them together here.
On the website
| Name | What for and how long |
|---|---|
__Host-ch_formcookie | Protects the request form for dedicated servers and colocation, so only you can send the form you opened. Only on those pages. Disappears when you close your browser. |
ck-themalocal storage | Remembers that you chose the dark theme yourself. Only when you press the theme button. Stays until you clear it. |
ck-actie-weglocal storage | Remembers that you closed the offer bar at the top. Stays until you clear it. |
ch_cookiekeuzecookie | Remembers whether you allow or decline Google Analytics, on the website and in My CakeHosting. 6 months. |
_ga and _ga_5V3QKWREN9Google Analytics cookies | Only if you give consent. Recognise your browser on a later visit, so we can see how many people use the site and which pages work well. 13 months. |
We also count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and no local storage. The microphone on the Build your cake page stores nothing either.
In My CakeHosting
| Name | What for and how long |
|---|---|
paymenter_sessioncookie | Keeps you logged in and remembers what you do during your visit. Disappears 2 hours after your last click. |
XSRF-TOKENcookie | Protects forms against misuse by other websites. Disappears after 2 hours. |
cartcookie | Keeps your cart, even before you log in. 30 days. |
paymenter_remembercookie | Keeps you logged in, only if you tick Remember me when you log in. 30 days. |
theme_modelocal storage | Remembers your theme choice, only when you switch it yourself. Stays until you clear it. |
Your choice for Google Analytics applies here too. If you gave consent, Google Analytics sets the same cookies here as on the website.
When you pay
| Name | What for and how long |
|---|---|
__stripe_midStripe cookie | Recognises your device to prevent payment fraud. 1 year. |
__stripe_sidStripe cookie | The same, for this one payment session. 30 minutes. |
Stripe only sets these cookies on the payment page of My CakeHosting and is responsible for them itself. You can read more in Stripe’s privacy policy.
In the game panel
The game panel uses a session cookie that keeps you logged in and the security cookie XSRF-TOKEN, both for 12 hours. Your browser also keeps a few panel settings in local storage, such as which menu sections are open and messages you have dismissed.
Security by Cloudflare
If Cloudflare sees suspicious traffic, it may set a security cookie, such as __cf_bm (30 minutes) or cf_clearance (after a check), to stop bots and attacks.
Consent and changing your choice
Under Dutch law (article 11.7a of the Telecommunications Act), no consent is needed for cookies and local storage that are strictly necessary for a service you use. The same goes for counting visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, because that has little or no impact on your privacy. For Google Analytics we do ask for your consent first, with the banner at the bottom of the page. Declining is just as easy as allowing, and the website works the same either way.
You can change your choice at any time via Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw your consent, measuring stops straight away and we delete the Google Analytics cookies in your browser.
Deleting or blocking cookies
You can always clear or block cookies and local storage in your browser settings. If you block the necessary cookies, you won’t be able to log in to My CakeHosting or the game panel, pay, or use the request form.
