Standard or Premium for Eco?

Eco simulates the whole ecosystem of your world. For a small group, Standard is enough; with lots of players or a big world, Premium gives you more headroom.

Who is a Eco server for?

An Eco server is for groups who want to plan, trade and build together. It works best with a regular group that plays together for a few weeks, because by default the meteor strikes after thirty days.

Setting up your Eco server

Just ordered? First steps after your order shows you how to get into the game panel. To change the settings in the Startup tab, see Change your server settings under Startup.

  1. Step 1: Name your server

In the Startup tab, set the server name, a password if you want one and a description. With Public Server you choose whether it appears in the server list.

  2. Step 2: Start the server

On the first start the server creates a new world. The console shows when it is ready.

  3. Step 3: Adjust the world

In the Configs folder you change things like the size of the world and the meteor. Then restart.

  4. Step 4: Connect

Search for your server by name in Eco, or connect directly with the address and port from the game panel.

What does an Eco server need?

Eco is the collaborative game by Strange Loop Games. Players build an economy, a government and a society together on a planet with its own ecosystem. By default a meteor strikes after thirty days, unless you develop the technology to stop it together. Every tree you cut and every fish you catch counts.

How much RAM does an Eco server need?

Eco simulates the whole ecosystem: plants, animals, pollution and everything players build. That is why usage grows with the size of the world and the number of players. Our advice: CupCake 4 GB for a group of friends on a standard world, Cake 6 GB or BIGCake 8 GB for a bigger group, and SuperCake 12 GB for a big world with lots of players.

How does the meteor work?

The meteor counts real days from the first start of your server, not playing time. By default you get thirty days. In your server settings you pick a different number of days or switch the meteor off completely. Handy if you only play a few evenings a week.

What can you change in the panel?

In the Startup tab you choose the name and description for the server list, a password, whether your server is public, the maximum number of connections, your playing times, a link to your Discord, a category, for example for beginners, and the language. Eco also has its own web page with, among other things, a map of your world; it runs on its own port. Everything else, such as the size of the world and the meteor, lives in the server’s configuration files. New here? Start with First steps after your order.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Eco server hosting cost?

From €4.95 a month, including VAT, on Standard; Premium starts at €8.95. What you pay depends on the memory; every size is listed with the plans. You pay monthly and can cancel any month.

Can I turn off the meteor or delay it?

Yes. In your server’s configuration files you set whether and when the meteor comes. By default it strikes after thirty real days, counted from the first start of the server.

How much RAM does an Eco server need?

At least 4 GB for a group of friends on a standard world. For a bigger group choose 6 or 8 GB, and 12 GB for a big world with lots of players.

How many players can join my Eco server?

You set that yourself under Max Connections in the Startup tab. More players also ask more of the server, so pick your plan to match.

Is my server listed in the Eco server browser?

Yes, if you turn on Public Server in the Startup tab. If you leave it off, players connect only with the address and port from the game panel.

Can I link my Discord to my Eco server?

Yes. Enter your Discord invite under Discord Server in the Startup tab. Players then see it with your server in the list.
