Standard or Premium?

Minecraft runs the world on one main thread, so a fast core means less lag with lots of players or a modpack. That’s why a Premium game server runs on AMD Ryzen 9 7950X or 9950X. For a small group of friends, Standard is usually plenty.

What can your server do?

  • Paper and plugins

Add plugins like EssentialsX and LuckPerms from the Plugins tab in the game panel.

  • Modpacks

Prefer Fabric, Forge or NeoForge? Pick a pack in the Modpacks tab and install it.

  • Java and Bedrock together

With the Geyser plugin, friends on phones and tablets can join your Java server; on consoles it takes a workaround.

  • A whole network

Lobby, survival and minigames behind one address, with a proxy in front.

From order to first block

  1. Step 1: Pick your plan

You check out in My CakeHosting.

  2. Step 2: Start your server

The server address is in the game panel.

  3. Step 3: Set it up

  4. Step 4: Invite your friends

Share the address and start building.

Domain names

Your own domain for your server

Your players connect with an address they can remember, instead of an IP address.

  • Registered in your name
  • Linked to your server with the Link to server tab
  • Renewed only after your payment

Your own domain

Extensions such as .nl, .be and .com

Address for your playersExample

play.yourserver.com:25566

instead of 203.0.113.24:25566

If your server runs on port 25565, players only type the name. An SRV record for an address without a port is not possible yet with a domain from us.

€8.95 per yearfor a .nl domain, incl. VAT

Check your domain name

Registration starts right after payment, for 1 year; the right of withdrawal ends once the domain is registered and a running period is not refunded.

Frequently asked questions

How much memory does my Minecraft server need?

A few friends on Paper are fine with 4 GB. Ten to twenty players with a handful of plugins: go a bit bigger. A Fabric or Forge modpack soon needs 8 GB or more. We don’t sell slots: you set the maximum number of players yourself with max-players. When your server grows, you move up a plan and your world stays put. More in How much RAM does a Minecraft server need?

Which Minecraft version does my server run?

The latest version of Paper by default. You pick another version in the Versions tab of the game panel; older versions sometimes need an older Java, which you choose in the Startup tab. See also Change your server version.

Can I bring my existing world?

Yes. Upload your world folder through the file manager or SFTP. Upload your Minecraft world to your server shows you how.

Can I buy a Minecraft server instead of renting one?

With hosting you don’t buy a server, you rent space on our hardware. No big purchase, no power bill and no maintenance: you pay monthly, cancel any month and move up a plan when your server grows.

Is my Minecraft server hosted in the Netherlands?

It can be. Standard runs in Europe (Netherlands, Germany or France), Canada or Singapore, Premium in Europe (Netherlands or France) or the United States (San Jose, California). When you order, you pick the location closest to your players. All locations are on Server locations, the hardware per line on Specifications.

Is cheap Minecraft hosting bad?

Not necessarily. Cheap gets expensive when a host crams too many servers onto one machine or sells player slots instead of memory. With us you get a fixed amount of RAM and your own share of the processor, and Standard is deliberately the sharp price for a group of friends. Want more power per core? Pick Premium. What to look for in any host is in How to compare Minecraft server hosts.
