How it works

  1. Search for your name

    Enter the name you want to use. You see for each extension whether it is still available.

  2. Order it in your name

    Complete your order in My CakeHosting. Right after payment we register the name, with you as the registrant.

  3. Link it and use it

    Link the domain to your game server with the Link to server tab, or use it for your website.

A domain for your game server

Let players connect with play.yourdomain.com instead of an IP address. In My CakeHosting, open your domain and choose the Link to server tab: we then set the A record to your server.

No need for a domain of your own yet? For Minecraft Java you can create a free address like yourserver.trick-game.net under Subdomain in the game panel.

On Minecraft Java with port 25565, players only type the name. On another port they add the port, as shown above: an SRV record, which makes that unnecessary, is not possible yet with a domain from us. If your domain is with another provider, you can set an SRV record there yourself.

Whose name is the domain registered in?

Yours: you are the registrant. You order the name in My CakeHosting and we register it with the details from your account.

How does renewing work?

You register a domain name per year. About 30 days before the expiry date you receive a renewal invoice, and we only renew once it has been paid. Registering and renewing cost the same; the price follows our purchase price.

What if the name is already taken?

Pick another extension or make a variation, with a word like play or mc or with a hyphen. The checker shows for each extension what is still available. More tips are in How to choose a domain name.

Do I need my own domain for my server?

No. For Minecraft Java you can create a free address like yourserver.trick-game.net under Subdomain in the game panel. A domain of your own is shorter, is registered in your name and also works for a website.

What do available and taken mean?

Available means the registry does not know the name: nobody has registered it right now. Taken means someone else already has it. We ask the registry of the extension and our registrar, and we never show who the registrant is.

Can I withdraw from a registered domain name or get my money back?

No. Your domain name is registered in your name right after payment, for 1 year. You give your consent for this at checkout, and your right of withdrawal ends as soon as the registration has been carried out. A registration period that has started cannot be cancelled early and is not refunded. If you do not want to renew, cancel the domain name or leave the renewal invoice unpaid: it then expires at the end of the period. As long as the registration has not been carried out, you can still withdraw from your order. More in the terms for domain names.
